April 2015 Seminar on Immigration

Immigration Seminar

4/22/2015, PACBC Building, Paramus, NJ

PACBC's legal adviser, Aris Francisco, Esq. gave a lecture on immigration policy and reform, covering President Obama's recent Immigration Executive Order.  Attorney Francisco used to work for the immigration department, USCIS, which is a component of the Department of Homeland Security.

Attendees learned that becoming a U.S. citizen is not as straightforward as a presidential order.  For example, you must become a permanent resident first, you need a petitioner, and in many cases a good immigration lawyer can help you get through the whole process.  Attorney Francisco discussed various issues with illegal aliens, including economic, political, and social.  He also explained how one can become a U.S. citizen, citing cases on which he has worked as examples, and demonstrating how the guidance he provided his clients led to U.S. citizenship.  He then fielded questions from the audience about topics such as asylum and deportation.
